Help shape the future of transit and public infrastructure in Ohio
The Access Ohio 2050 plan will shape the state’s transportation policy agenda over the next 25 years. Share your story with ODOT and insist they prioritize people over pavement!

Leaders with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) recently hosted an open house in Cincinnati to present and gather feedback on preliminary concepts for its sweeping, long-range plan, “Access Ohio 2050,” (AO50). Updated every five years, Access Ohio provides a roadmap to the agency’s vision over the next quarter-century.
As part of its public engagement process for AO50, ODOT utilized its Transportation Preference Survey, which it administers roughly every four years to poll respondents’ transportation priorities across the state. Here’s a snapshot of their most recent findings (2024):

As the state’s transportation experts look ahead, it’s never been so critical to engage them now and voice our need to think bigger than more car-dependency.
If you couldn’t attend ODOT’s local open house, it’s not too late to offer feedback! Join Sustainable Cincy’s letter-writing campaign and tell ODOT to prioritize sustainable transit options and reject highway expansion for the bottomless money-pit (they already know) it is. The state already knows the technical realities of car-centric engineering vs. more sustainable alternatives; they need to hear how it continues to impact real Ohioans’ everyday lives.
We invite you to share with ODOT your personal story about how better transit and more walkable communities will benefit you, your family and your neighbors.
ODOT is taking public comment on Access Ohio 2050 on an ongoing basis, but we hope to fill their inboxes with at least 50 letters (500 would be better!) by the end of Wednesday, May 28, when their public engagement tour across the state comes to a close. Follow the button above to find talking points and an online portal to submit your feedback to ODOT project leaders.
And that’s not all you can do to help! Sustainable Cincy is always planning its next community event or action to push our leaders to build our region for the 21st century and beyond! Check out our upcoming events here. There are so many ways to get involved!
